Guardianship    The Client

Guardianship volunteers speak for those who are no longer able to make important health care and living decisions. The volunteer does not provide direct care, but advocates for needed services and appropriate care. With regular visits, the volunteer ensures that the person's rights and dignity are honored.

Maria is a 96 year old from El Salvador. Her family hasn't visited her in 15 years. She finds solace with her guardian who speaks her native language. Her guardian says, "Spending time with Maria gives me a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. I know I make a difference in Maria's life."
